The Beauty of Seasons
Limited Capacity seats available

Some people crave change while others fear what it may bring. Regardless of our personal reactions, transitions are vital to our lives, just as the seasons are essential to the course of a year. We experience transitions within our relationships, the roles we take on in our lives, and on our mat. The beginning and ending points of the evolution only make up half of the story. It is the journey that molds who we are and who we will become. Understanding the process of moving from point A to point B is challenging, but the benefits are lasting. Come to this class ready to shift your focal point from the end result to the journey itself. Students will strengthen their physical awareness of the links that form advanced poses within the flow. Be ready to work hard and have fun.

But wait, there's more. What happens when we take those two by twos and combine them, with only one sighted person? Can one person lead three people blindfolded? How does the trust multiple? How does the care multiple? What will happen? You know what's coming... more! Can we take four by fours and put them together? Can one person lead seven? Can the seven relax, let go and trust enough to move skilfully through the woods while blindfolded? It's one giant experiment, and you're invited along for the adventure. Mandalas in Nature: An Embodied Creativity Meditation
Limited Capacity seats available

According to ancient yogic philosophy, the mandala symbol represents the connection between microcosm and macrocosm, where the body is the link to the whole universe and practices centred around the body are a gateway towards experiencing that flow of nature inside.

In this creative meditation workshop, we’ll be working together to design a large-scale mandala artwork using locally foraged natural elements, such as leaves, stones, flowers and feathers.

As well as creating something exquisitely impermanent, the process of immersing ourselves in nature allows us to feel that we are nature too. The finished artwork is a reminder of our relation to infinity, with the same atoms and energy that actuate the universe, existing inside of each and every one of us.

What started as a studio project is a now fully formed 12 piece band with members hailing from all corners of the globe with Karima Madut representing South Sudan, Percussionist Mavs Adegbite representing Nigeria, Alesano on steel pan being a super rare mix of Trini - Samoan, and Jinitero MC being far far away from his homeland of Cuba.

They are joined up the mysterious Gaza Tripp on Guitar, Izak Chads also on Pan and the mighty Horns of Tekapo bringing the Brass blast.

Together they have been storming the stage at some of the biggest festivals around New Zealand and Australia and now have their eyes firmly set on bringing this unique mix of global sounds to the world stage.

With their debut EP dropping at the beginning of 2015 on respected UK purveyor of incredible 'sounds of the world' Soundway Records and a release set on The Jillionaire's Feel Up Records things are certainly heading in that direction.

Limited Capacity full
Adding this to your schedule will put you on the waitlist.

We love to Yoga. We love to hike. Y-ikes! We love to yoga hike! Join Kara-Leah for a light-hearted exploration on how to incorporate yoga into hiking. We'll meet at the trailhead for some grounding and connecting work using pranayama and meditation. Over the course of the hike we'll walk, possibly run (no promises), meditatively walk, and explore how to use the environment around us to practice asana. The session will close with some chanting and seated meditation. Expect to learn how to spot an opportunity for yoga (whether asana, pranayama, meditation or chanting) at a hundred paces. Learn which asana work best with tree trunks and how to do seated poses without sitting on damp ground. It's integrated yoga practice at it's best. No mat required. Actually, no mats allowed. That's the whole point - yoga beyond boundaries, yoga beyond mats.

Yoga for Dudes
Limited Capacity seats available

What is balance? What does it mean to be balanced? The yoga practice gives us the tools to find the answers to these questions, both from a physical standpoint and a mental/spiritual one as well. As an athletic male, the idea of flexibility has always been a tougher aspect to find than strength. In this practice, we will try to find some sense of equilibrium between the two…using our strength to create stability and find the ease and openness that is flexibility. Yogis should come ready to work hard in hip and shoulder openers, while finding ease in their return to center, into balance.

Riding the Waves
Limited Capacity seats available

Sometimes our emotions can take us deeper and higher than our bodies could ever hope to – for better or for worse! It is important to learn how to ride the waves of our emotions rather than sink beneath their overwhelming power. This lesson benefits us both on and off the yoga mat. We bury many complicated emotions in our second chakra, so be prepared to start digging down deep! In this class we will experience a variation of hip openers, inviting those hidden sentiments to come into the light. Breaking down will actually build us up! Be prepared to find your emotional (arm) balance as these hip openers steer us into a world of hip-focused arm balances. Open to all levels of athletic practitioners.

Although affectionately known as ‘King of the Dubs’ in NZ, Tiki’s musical influences and appeal are broad, traversing from dubstep, reggae, drum n bass and hip-hop, to more contemporary pop/rock sensibilities. Luka Lessons

Luka Lesson is a spoken word and Hip-hop artist of Greek heritage from Australia.

Luka’s debut book, “The Future Ancients” is now (independently) a best-seller for poetry by Australian standards twice-over and a part of educational programs in selected schools from Hong Kong to Melbourne. His performances and writing skills in various arenas have earned the title of “a sonic literary genius” by New York poet and former president of Poetry Slam, Inc. (USA), Taylor Mali.

With 4 years of international touring, 13 Writers’ Festivals, 9 years of workshop experience and ten years of writing under his belt, Luka has written commissions and performed for the likes of The National Gallery of Victoria, Greece’s pioneer Hip-hop group Active Member, South Africa’s OneBlood Festival and China’s most celebrated living poet Xi Chuan in Beijing. He is also the Australian Poetry Slam Champion of 2011 and Melbourne Poetry Slam Champion of 2010.

Musically, Luka has released two full length albums: Please Resist Me (2011) and EXIT (2014) and blurs the lines between conscious rap lyricist and insightful story-teller. From dense rhyme schemes to a poetic vulnerability rarely seen in modern day artists, Luka’s musicality is prevalent in everything he does. Whether holding the focus of thousands of people at a music festival main stage with nothing but his voice, or flowing on complex beats and electronic production, Luka is a versatile artist who’s influences are as diverse as his army of faithful followers.

Ladyhawke
“People wonder why there’s always a massive gap between my albums,” says Pip Brown, better known as Ladyhawke, the one-woman synth-pop act from New Zealand. The reason is both complicated and easy. The simple explanation: “I’ve never released anything I’m not proud of. That’s important to me. I don’t want to release anything that I have a weird feeling about.”

Those instincts have served Brown well, starting with her self-titled debut in 2008, which peaked at No. 16 on the U.K. album charts and No. 1 in Australia and New Zealand’s album charts. It won Australia’s ARIA music awards for Best Breakthrough album and Best Breakthrough Single. Brown also took home six New Zealand music awards and was nominated for The Brits’ much coveted Best International Artist.

You mean AcroYoga on a Slackline!? Not exactly. We will be doing AcroYoga and Slacklining, individually to create an amazing practice. This workshop draws on the YogaSlackers expertise of yoga, slacklining and acrobatics. Choosing Plants to Create Positive Change
Limited Capacity full
Adding this to your schedule will put you on the waitlist.

Although it may seem insignificant, what you choose to eat each day is one of the most powerful choices you can make for positive change. What you put on your plate is ultimately a vote for the reality you want to see around you. Our culture of excess and societal obsession with a highly processed, animal-based diet and its reliance on industrialised agricultural practices is having a detrimental impact on not only our health, but the environment too. Adopting a more plant based, organic and wholefoods diet is a massive step towards regaining control over you own health and contributing to our collective responsibility (kaitiakitanga) to take care of the environment around us.

Through a combination of years of suffering from ill health, a background in organic farming and environmental sciences and chefing, Megan May turned her passion for organics, food and years of struggling with illness into a thriving organic and plant-based food business. Credited as being one of the leading pioneers in the clean eating movement in New Zealand, through Little Bird Organics & The Unbakery, Megan is bringing a positive and fundamental change to the way kiwis are eating, and thinking about what they are putting in their mouths, one kimchi burger and macaroon at a time.
